What I Write

Almost 30 years ago I bought the desk you see on the home page for our first home. I had just had a baby and left my job to stay home and raise him. The house was a little bungalow in a city south of Detroit with a half-finished basement where the desk lived at the bottom of the steps.

It wasn't long before I missed my old journalism job. In a flurry of postpartum energy, I took to my desk and started writing. Within a few months I had pounded out a children's novel on our very first PC and printed the entire story out on nearly an entire ream of typing paper.

The ream has moved from house to house over the years. Maybe someday I'll revisit it. In the meantime, I have been writing other children's stories, poetry, essays and short fiction. I have been published in various literary journals and have published two of my own books, a picture book called "Season of the Great Bird" and a chapbook titled "Uneventful". I also write on Substack and edit a quarterly ezine, The Dolomite Review.
